The majority of our organisation is committed to the sector of renewable power technology data processing. We aim to be leaders in building key digital architecture in the interconnected cross-border data space, this means maintaining a position at the forefront of innovation in renewable power strategies as the world moves towards its goal of an affordable and efficient advanced energy infrastructure.

Data Act

Upcoming additions and reform to the European Union data regulations and the European Union Data Act. The newly proposed Data Act is intended to patch existing holes in the General Data Protection Regulation and overlap certain more important factors of the GDPR, whilst focusing on non-personal data protection and transnational data regulation which has largely been unregulated up until a few years ago. Saxon Data is expecting these regulations to pass next year. The Data Act will be a significant proposed legislative addition to the current framework and will be implemented alongside the equally new Data Governance Act (DGA). The final text of the Data Act was agreed upon by the European Union member states in June 2023 however, it remains in the process of endorsement from the European Parliament and Council before it can be official entered into force as a European Regulation


Data Governance Act (DGA)

The Data Governance Act of May 2022 is a legislative measure of the European Union data protection strategy which came into force in June 2022 and after a subsequent grace period of 15 months was applicable as an official regulatory data framework in September 2023. This act targets public sector bodies and other entities as defined by the European Commission as "data altruism". "The DGA does not compel public bodies to allow the re-use of data" (Data Governance Act 2022, Article 1 (s)). "Instead, it creates mechanisms and procedures under which public bodies can encourage the re-use of data for beneficial purposes. Member states can choose competent bodies to support other public sector bodies to grant access to re-use data that is achieved by integrating advice and providing secure processing environments. Public sector bodies are also allowed to charge reasonable fees for allowing the re-use of data that they hold" (European Commission 2023 (b)).
